Buyer Guidance
Where HiveShield ships today, what “compliant” means, and what markets are next.
What “Compliant” Means
HiveShield uses two licensed radio subsystems, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for local access and LoRa for long-range telemetry. Radio compliance is the main driver of where we can legally sell and ship. In many regions, we can leverage modular approvals from the embedded radio modules, then complete end-product obligations such as labeling, documentation, and EMC requirements for the finished device.
Practical summary, sensors and radios are only part of compliance. The integrated device still needs correct labeling and required EMC behavior in the destination market.
At a Glance
- Local access, BLE for setup, diagnostics, and direct reads in the mobile app, no internet required.
- Long-range telemetry, LoRa to LoRa-Link, then backhaul to the internet and AESRS.
- Actionable output, AESRS turns sensor streams into map-based, decision-ready insight.
Legal Sales Regions, Supported Now
HiveShield is positioned for legal sales in the regions below based on existing radio certifications and standard end-product compliance steps. If you are in one of these regions, you are generally in the “supported now” category.
- United States, FCC modular approvals for BLE and LoRa modules, end-product EMC for the integrated device still applies.
- Canada, ISED modular approvals, similar approach to the US for end-product compliance.
- European Union and EEA, CE marking under radio equipment requirements plus EMC expectations for the finished product.
- Japan, MIC and TELEC-based approvals for the radio modules support legal operation and sale.
- UK, Switzerland, Turkey, Israel, commonly align to CE-based pathways, subject to local requirements.
Note, some countries reference FCC or CE as part of local review, but “acceptance” is not the same as “approved for sale”. We handle this on a market-by-market basis.
Markets Requiring Additional Certification
These are high-value markets where legal sales typically require additional, country-specific radio approvals for the finished device, even when FCC or CE exist. We track these as planned market expansions.
- China, SRRC (and potentially related categories depending on classification).
- South Korea, KC.
- Brazil, ANATEL.
- Australia, RCM and ACMA processes, including supplier registration steps.
- Thailand, NBTC.
- India, WPC may apply for BLE, LoRa approval may still be required depending on bands and classification.
Typical cost and time ranges vary by country. These programs usually involve accredited lab testing and a local representative for submission.
What Certifications We Leverage
HiveShield uses widely deployed radio modules to accelerate compliance in supported regions.
- BLE module, STMicroelectronics BlueNRG-M0L.
- LoRa module, Seeed Studio LoRa-E5-HF.
What You Will See on the Product, Compliance Markings
Markings vary by destination, but in supported regions you should expect combinations of the following on the device label, packaging, or included documentation, depending on the market and the final labeling configuration.
- US, “Contains FCC ID” statements where applicable and required Part 15 notices.
- Canada, “Contains IC” statements where applicable and required RSS notices.
- EU and EEA, CE marking under radio equipment requirements, plus any required recycling markings.
- Japan, MIC and TELEC identifiers where applicable.
- Environmental, RoHS and recycling markings as required by destination market.
Important, end-product obligations can include EMC testing as an unintentional radiator, labeling, documentation, and local language requirements.
Need Help Confirming Your Country Before You Order
If you are outside the “supported now” regions, contact us and tell us your country and intended use (personal, research, commercial). We will confirm the current certification posture and the most practical shipment path.
